A Noteworthy Nebbiolo

A Noteworthy Nebbiolo... That's the title of my latest wine article on the CW Home Page. The article profiles a tasty 'entry-level' red wine from Tenuta Arbéta in Italy's Piedmont region. For aficionados of Barbaresco and Barolo, the wine offers a less expensive alternative to exploring the charms of the Nebbiolo grape, one of my personal favourites. Check it out HERE.

By the way, I served this wine with a bone-in leg of ham last night, and the pairing was spot-on.

Lovely review and the label's lithography is superior.

I'm a bit sheepish admitting that I had never even heard of nebbiolo before reading your article, Doug (and I expect that I am not alone).

Great work, as always.

It's a wonderful varietal when well vinified, Jason. I've had the pleasure of experiencing Barolo wines dating from vintages of the early 1950s through to the present era, and have rarely been disappointed.

Unfortunately, the prices for Barolo and Barbaresco have risen steeply over the last two decades. The more cost-effective Nebbiolos (all three are made from the Nebbiolo grape) thus represent a more cost-effective (though less age-worthy) way to enjoy the charms of that particular grape variety.

Same here. I have had Barolo before but it's been quite a while ago.
