I have some rubbermaid storage boxes with weatherstripping that work great. Fill them up with boxes and a florist foam humidifier made from a plastic (unused) deli container. The basement stays between 55-68 all year long. The 18 gallon (72 quart) things are like $5.00 + pennies for humidification.
