Miles was just pure virtuoso...

I think I have every commercial CD Miles put out and I always look for bootlegs of concerts etc.

There was just something beautiful and unique when Miles played!

He always had the best guys playing with him too....

Look at some of the names over the years that started with Miles!

Look at the liner notes of "Bitches Brew"....
Awesome album....awesome talent in there too!
Fusion at it's roots and heavy at times...

Great in it's own right that album!

Plenty of Miles groupies here...I'll agree that 'Kind of Blue' is a "must have" classic, but greatest of all time? That's a toughie. How 'bout these:

More incredible jazz out there than one could ever imagine...

Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet, however, blew me away the first time I heard it!!

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Miles was a protean artist. I can't say that I love all of his recordings. But this record is so different, fresh, beatiful. Its one of the few records that you can hear the beauty of math and improvisation together. I never tire of it. I'm a big fan of John Coltrane as well but Kind of Blue does it for me.

No one has mentioned Money Jungle by Ellington, Mingus and Roach. If I could only have one jazz album in the world it would be that one.

Good thing I can have as many as I want!

Actually, recently I've been listening to a lot of Medeski Martin and Wood (anything) Charlie Hunter's "Bing Bing Bing" and the Ginger Baker Trio (with Bill Frisell and Charlie Hayden).

But Money Jungle is still in there at least once or twice a week...
