Aberlour 18 Year Old last night... Reminds me just a little bit of older versions of sherry cask aged 18 Year Old Macallan in terms of its effortless balance, with nuances of nuts, raisins, orange zest and mint.

Old Forester 100 Proof again last night... A very solid Bourbon indeed.

Port Charlotte PC8 (bottled in 2009 at 60.5%ABV)... This one comes from the Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay, and is a tad more than moderately peated (as opposed to the minimally peated Bruichladdich and heavily peated Octomore editions from the same distillery). Here, the smokiness displays a somewhat dry and ashy as well as a touch earthy tone. Nevertheless, it's the sweetness of the malt that carries the day (as one might expect from an eight year old whisky).

Last night was my second straight evening sampling a freshly open bottle of Booker's. This time around, I poured it over some ice, which definitely accentuated the fruitier aspects of flavour rather than the rye-derived spices. As always, an exceptional whiskey!
