Humidor PIF CONTEST!!****Finished Humidor Pic!
I've been very fortunate to have enjoyed the generosity of MANY people here at CW. It's time for a good PIF! I won this humidor
http://galleries.cigarweekly.com/xru...humidor-refurb in a contest some months back. I have refinished it and put in fresh spanish cedar. Interior dimensions are 11 3/4" X 7 1/4" and 4 1/4" deep. It's made of Honduran Mahogany. Not great, but nice. This is a nice size and a very functional humidor! Here's the contest part: 1. I can't decide where to mount the humidifiers. They are Nintendo game cases faced with screen. I'm going to fill them with 65% Climaxx Beads. Where should they go? 2. I considered making a cigar tray too. It would by necessity be pretty shallow. Should I make one? How will it be incorporated with the humidifiers? 3. Answer the questions, basically finish the design. I'll finish the humidor according to the entry I like best! That person will get the humidor! 4. One entry per person so consider yours carefully. 5. The decision on who wins is mine. I'll solicit advice from some other people, but the decision is mine. When I decide on a choice I'll end the contest by posting the winner. |

I like it just the way it is without a tray.
Would mount a humidification device on left and right inside panels. |

Well I'd put the Nintendo game cases to the sides out of the way.
Second, I wouldnt make a tray but put some or just one divider in the middle of the box. (Short and sweet) Anyway, it's a nice box and thanks for the contest.

Definitely put the humidifiers on the sides to keep them out of the way. As for the tray, is it possible to make both a tray and a divider? That way the user has the option of which to use based upon his habits. Will the humidifiers hold up a tray?
Sure is a nice looking box.

I would think putting the humidifiers on the front panel and back panel would be better than the sides. That way instead of taking up a whole space where a cigar could of went, if its in the front, a cigar can fit there, just one that is not quite as long.
and i would go with the divider, in the middle. Thats my suggestions! Good luck, and looks great!! |

Very nice looking.
I too concure with the humidifers on the bottom sides out of the way. As for the trays, I would like to see multiple thin trays side by side with dividers. I've seen the ones that vern does for the travel caddie and fell in love :X It would be intresting to incorprate this idea into a humidor That's the only problem I have with my smaller humidor is that there is no way to arrange the particular brand or size of cigar Thanks for letting us take part in the design of this beauty. And thanks for the contest

I would make a tray that was very shallow and would hold a hygrometer in the middle. A nice brass one. Then mount the humidifiers on the bottom of the tray - to each end. Then make sure that the mounting for the tray would be such that it could be moved from one end of the humidor to the other as needed.
Very nice work by the way. I am impressed! |

I would make a tray that sits about 2" off the bottom of the humidor, and place the humidifcation devices below those, so they are out of sight when the tray is in. Have the tray be removable so it can be lifted out for refilling the humidifcation devices.

I would make an all in one unit.
A divider that holds the Climax and has a hygrometer mounted on top. Thanks for the contest.
