My ex wife had a cousin who experience a neck injury playing HS football. Wasn't a dirty play, just the way he tackled. He ended up paraylyzed, and died in his early 30s.

Then there was a player at Ole Miss, same thing. (Chucky Mullins). Just a freak play. No late hit, nothing dirty, just the way his neck was when he delivered a hit.

It's just a tragedy, and I hope this young man will be ok. After it's all said and done, despite what some would argue, it's still just a game.
