IPCPR: AJ Fernandez Enclave

AJ Fernandez Enclave:
Size- 6.0"x52 Toro
Wrapper-Habano Rosado
Filler-Cameroon
Filler- Nicaraguan/Piloto Cubano
This is one good looking stick! The wrapper is very smooth with no noticeable veins......a slight reddish hue with a nice oily sheen. I run the cigar under my nose and get a nice whiff of hay and rich "barnyard"....very promising so far. It feels nice in the hand with no soft spots and a supple give when pinched. It comes with a closed foot, something I tend to like as it tends to give a nice blast of the wrapper taste profile right from the start.

I light the foot and get a taste of dark chocolate, though certainly not overpowering. there is some spice and pepper in the background, but again, not in your face. At the start there is a nice balance to this cigar which seems to settle in rather quickly to a medium strength level with what I would call a medium/full body. The smoke is very smooth and chewy with a bit of creaminess. After about an inch I am getting a little more cedar creeping in with some leather in the aroma. The burn is spot on so far.

As I progress into the middle third I find the strength and body ramping up a bit. There is a more pronounced black pepper and coffee profile....but still with that ever present creaminess in the background. The burn is still razor sharp and it's producing a large volume of smoke.

Heading down the home stretch into the final third the coffee/espresso becomes a little more dominant with the pepper and spice stepping back a bit. The cedar is also still there along with a little bitter dark chocolate.
The burn remained true from start to finish with no corrections needed.
If you are a fan of AJ Fernandez blends this is certainly one you should give a try! A medium/full cigar with a good bit of complexity.....one that I will keep in my rotation!
4 out of 5 stars
