Gurkha Pre-Embargo Estate 1940

Anyone had one of these? I bumped into a guy in front of my local last night who swore up and down they were the best cigar ever made. Then again he also said it was a "Cuban Puro" He pays $40/per single for the dbl corona I told him for that kind of dough he ought to get the real thing

When you lie in Court - it is perjury.
When you lie for a living in order to get folks to part with their money - it is sometimes called sales and marketing.
Why would any rational man pay that kind of $$$$ for these ersatz cubans - it just doesn't make sense

As you correctly pointed out - the real deal can be had at a fraction of the cost !!!!

Hmmm, I think I saw it at Cbid a few days ago. It wasn't $40, that's for sure. Or at least no one was going to bid that high.

Closed today. $222 for 2 5-packs of Gurkha 1950 Pre-Embargo Torps.
I think I'd rather have twice as many "lesser" post-embargo sticks.

Holy crap. Those must be great cigars.

What's up with the "traditional shaggy foot"? None of my cigars have that.

Thats because none of your cigars are "vintage."

The 1950 that I had was sick b/c of the Connecticut wrapper. Maybe everything else in it was finely aged 100% cuban tobacco - but you slap a new Connecticut wrapper on it and it ain't a cuban. Mine was slightly sick, but I could tell it had some decent flavors - still - not 100% cuban....
