Humidor Damage & Repair Questions
http://www.cigarfriendly.com/prestige/prestige_exe.gif
I recently got a Prestige Executive off eBay. It would appear that it was dropped by someone before it got to me. One of the corners is dented in-- both the bottom and the lid-- and there are some cracks visible in some of the joints. I've posted some pictures: http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo...-Damage-01.jpg http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo...-Damage-02.jpg http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo...-Damage-03.jpg http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo...-Damage-04.jpg http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo...-Damage-05.jpg http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo...-Damage-06.jpg http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo...-Damage-07.jpg You can see a few things-- some cracks at the joints if you look carefully; the lid appears to be out of true, as one corner shows practically no gap between lid & bottom portion, whereas the other shows about 1/16th of an inch. Too, the lid is cracked just a bit near where the center hinge is connected, and the laminated spanish cedar lining is kind of busted up at one corner. What can I do to effect repairs on this box? Some of you guys must have some experience with respect to fixing up ailing humidors. BTW, I have a cheap Decatur I got off eBay some years back which had some similar problems. The back of the lid was cracking off so I forced some gorilla glue or similar into the cracks and then put some small brass screws into pre-drilled holes to tighten everything together. This box is a bit nicer, so I'm reluctant to reach for the brass screws unless I know there is no better way. Thanks in advance for any and all helpful replies. |
