Frustrated with My Humidor - Too Much Humidity

I'm having a tough time bringing down the humidity in my humidor. It currently reads about 74%-75%.

I visited the forum about a month ago and learned about humidity beads so I bought a 2 ounce tube of 65% Rh and inserted into my 100 cigar (750 cu. in.) humidor. I removed the humidifier at that point as well. It remained that way for a good two weeks and the humidity moved toward 70%. About a week later I checked again. Back to 75% top and bottom.

I've calibrated both of my digital hygrometers with the kit and they're both within 1% accurate.

I've since bought more beads and inserted a good deal more about three days ago. No change. Still reads 73% bottom, 75% top.

The beads were inserted dry, and I've added zero water to them. Before I inserted the second round of beads I dried out the bead tube with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes to eliminate any moistrue in them.

The kicker though is that my cigars appear and sound dry. When I give them a pinch close to my hear there's a fair bit of crackling. They're fairly rigid as well. Much more rigid and crackly then when I bought/received them in the mail.

They don't burn particularly fast or taste poorly, but I'd like to protect my investment as I'm sure all of you can appreciate.

Any advice would be appreciated.
