If you are in a restaurant setting, you'd do better with an acrylic display. People can better see what is available instead of having to look through the glasstop of a display humi. You also have the ability to display a better selection in an acrylic case. It's all about presentation. The display humidors are great, but they don't do very well in a retail/restaurant/bar setting where people are buying cigars. The biggest reason is that you have this wooden box sitting somewhere. Only when someone walks up and stands over it do they realize you are selling cigars. With an acrylic display, you can tell from across the room.
Based on that, I'd strongly recommend an acrylic display. Now, I'd also recommend buying a quality unit. You are going to spend a bit more, but it is going to last. Also, people are much more likely to purchase a cigar out of a humi that is not dinged, scratched, etc. Start with something small and then look into building a unit into a wall with nice glass shelves slanted at an angle to display open boxes. Keep in mind its a luxury item. The better you display them and care for them, the better success you are going to have.
