A lot of variables in baseball.
The game has no clock. You might play a rain-shortened 5-inning game, you might play 22 innings. Even the best pitchers only make a "quality start" two out of three or maybe three out of four times and still may get beat when a reliever comes in. The best teams, on average, win 2/3 of their games and the worst teams win about 1/3. Lastly, a good hitter only gets a hit about 30 times out of a hundred. There are more, and over the long term, a bettor might do okay, but I'm not willing to bet on a single game.
