BECKHAM GROUNDED FOR WORLD CUP
You know, say what you want about David Beckham. I've been a critic of his as well, stating that he's the highest paid mannequin in professional football. But since his move to Real, he's impressed me with his unselfish work rate and professionalism. I was watching the Chievo match when he pulled up lame, and up to that point he was getting stuck in all over the pitch. I mean, he was playing like a man possessed. So, I do feel a bit sorry to see him miss out on this summer's tournament and the possibility of setting an England cap record.
On the other hand, this may open the door for whippersnappers such as James Milner. Or perhaps, Adam Johnson. I've seen him play on two occasions for Manchester City and the big money they laid out on the 23 year old seems well spent. Lots of pace and technical ability. And you should have seen the composure he showed when he hit the equaliser against Sunderland this weekend. Brilliant.
