I saw an interview where he (stupidly?) admitted that he can train HARD
every day like Klinsmann wants and be fit for a match. Love his candor,
but I kinda could see it coming.....
Twillman on ESPN thought he'd make the side as a substitute, if only
to have the press focus on the whole WC, and not why did you leave off
Donovan. I hope it's NOT a big distraction.
The 19 yo German kid from Tampa made it.......

Donovan had a great run. Now it's over. He's not the player he used to be by a long shot. His self-imposed exile (last year) from the USMNT and his club was a harbinger of things to come.

Klinsmann has a four year extension through WC in Russia 2018. I think he picked this team to "blood" some of the youngsters for that run. Not that he's given up on this summer, but realistically it's going to take a gargantuan effort (and a lot of luck) to get out of our group.

Wondo is a goal poacher. The guy you put in with 10-12 minutes to go in a game where you need a goal and let him wreck havoc.

This is about all I saw him do in the gold cup. I appreciated Donovan's ability to create chances, not just capitalize on balls at feet and empty nets. When the US plays top flight competition, it's usually frustrating to watch because we don't have many guys that can create legitimate opportunities...Donovan seemed to be one of those guys. Otherwise, it's been counters, crappy shots, corners, tap-ins. But hey, I guess whatever works.

As I see it, and from my limited MLS exposure so far this season, Zusi loves to create...any thoughts on how much time Zusi will get in our four games?

We just aren't very good, and I especially love all of the whining about our pool.
I don't recall the Bucs whining about being put into the NFC Central, the Cubs in the NL central, the US hockey team doing so in the Olympics, etc.
