Storing cigars in a cooler - Racks ?

I have a cooler that I am storing my sticks in... currently they are basically just stacked (read piled) in there , I was thinking I should have some sort of "Racks/Shelves" so air can get to all sides of them better than my current setup...

what are you guys doing ?

Suggestions ??

Dan

I don't use racks in my coolers. I'm not a believer in "air flow" as a necessity, either. In fact, I look at oxygen as one of any cigar's worst enemies. If you do a quick search on "vacuum sealing" in the Cedar Room, you'll find a bunch of the relevant threads.

I agree that oxygen could be a detriment , I was thinking that the "humidified" air could get to all sides of them better , I will look into the vacuum sealing you mentioned...

I simply keep cigars in wood (Spanish Cedar) boxes.

Beg, borrow, or steal a few and stack 'em up in the cooler.

An exciting round of "Coolerdor Tetris" once in a while is good for your brain.

I got sick of playing tetris in my Aristocrat so I got rid of the shelf and added three more singles drawers. With the 4 drawers, and room on the bottom for 4 unopened boxes, life is so much easier.

Dan, I think cigars, once properly humidified and stable, don't dry out or get too wet if what air is in contact with them is neither too dry nor too damp. I really think it takes rather longer to really move a cigar's humidification far in one direction or the other than most folks think. That's not to say bad things can't happen if you don't pay attention...I had most of a box of OR Camacho Corojo torps split end-to-end when my RH got too high. At the other end of the spectrum, I've had a bunch of 2001 Connie #9Ms in a Ziploc bag sitting on a shelf in my cigar closet for more than a year; no added humidification, and they're tasty as can be.

More to the point, I've been running multiple coolers for many years using kitty litter beads for humidification, and the results have been great. I tetris in the boxes and bags and check the RH every 2-3 months, typically add a bit if distilled water 2-3 times per year, and enjoy the results.

I do the same. I also use the kitty litter beads and only need to add water rarely.
