Emmitt Smith....

retires. I am just happy to have had the opportunity to see him play. One of the truly class acts of the NFL. Another class act is Jerry Jones signing him to a 1 day contract so he retires a cowboy.

Giant killer, Eagle killer, Bills killer. He was pretty darn good for a "little" guy. And tough. Didn't he play with a separated shoulder one game?

Class act! Great player on the field and a gentleman off the field. Funny, I can remember when most athletes were like that.

Yep. Won the division in that game.

I'm not sure I'm willing to grant Jerrah "class act" status; if not for him, Emmitt wouldn't have gone to Arizona. Still, the 1-day contract is a nice gesture to let Emmitt retire a Cowboy.

As a Cowboys fan I loved watching Emmitt. I met him at an autograph show in 1993 and he was so gracious to his fans. Thanks for the memories Emmitt.

I will never forget this game. January 1994 with the NFC East title on the line. X-Rays at the half showed a second degree separation. He played the second half AND overtime and Rushed for 59 yards carrying Giants defenders with him and even caught four passes. I still think the most amazing thing about that game was a block he threw on a blitzing cornerback leading with his bad shoulder and flipping the CB on his head.

He played 15 years and rushed for 937 yards in his 1st season and 937 in his 15th. Pretty cool.
