Question for ak2000 r/e GH Dark tobaccos
Andy, I believe you recently acquired GH Dark Plug and GH Kendal Dark shag. These two styles of tobacco are the same dark fired Kentucky and Virginia tobaccos blends. Do you have a preference of one over the other? If so, why?

Hey Mike, yes I did. Surprisingly they seem to be completely different tobaccos. The Kendall Dark shag is amazing stuff, just dark and rich natural tobacco flavor that smokes and burns perfectly, completely satisfying and no hint of Lakeland or any other topping at all. The Dark Plug has dark/smoky flavors and some cigar like flavor plus the Lakeland. However, I find the Lakeland much more subdued if I grind it up pretty well. I really like both, but I find myself reaching for the Kendall Dark more.

I would be happy to send you samples of each.

Andy, thanks, I would appreciate a sample for comparison. I want to order one or both. But if one is that much better then the other, I would rather order more of the of the one that smokes better. I am leaning towards the dark shag for its ease of preparation.

I see now that there is a Kendall Dark Thick Cut which is the same tobacco as Kendall Dark, but ribbon instead of shag. Supposedly burns slower... Have you tried this one Mike?

I haven’t tried the thick cut. From what I understand, the cut is still pretty thin even though they call it a thick cut, and still burns fast.
