cigars give off ammonia gas as they age... so between cedar, tobacco aromas and ammonia I'm sure they can develop a "smell". Take some of the smelly beads, swirl them around in 90% pure rubbing alcohol and see if that fixes the problem after the alcohol evaporates.... Otherwise, replace them if the smell is "not cigar friendly"...
