BOTL's and SOTL's, I've been a member of this site now for a long time and I've seen that a number of you are highly knowledgeable when it comes to countering the anti-smoking lobby. I've seen a ton of statistics and reports quoted in comments on this site and in articles on external sites. Some of you can really hold your own. Unfortunately, I can't, And I assume that some of our other members here can't either.

What I'd like to do is use this thread to post good talking points (short, digestable pieces of information) that we members can grab if we see an anti-smoking lobby article out there in the wild.

An example would be this one Big John used on the Texas Statesman Website :

Believe it or not, WE are the smoking lobby. The only way we can fight back bans and other garbage is to counter their arguments and get information out there ourselves.

If you look in some of Tommy's other "ban news" threads you'll see some other articles he's posted that I've tried to attack. The study in that link is my silver bullet, but I do manage a cogent argument or 2 on top of them....

I've gotten all these last few posts from "Juliette Tworsey" who is a member of a Facebook group I belong to. Louisiana for Fair Tobacco Reform. If you're on FB, find this group and join. Even if you're not from Louisiana, we can use all the help and support.

I'll top this to make sure it stays up front and hope it can become a sticky to stay there for everyone.

My way of countering the anti-smoking establishment:

(While blowing my cigar smoke directly at them) "Kiss my ass you stupid fucking imbecile. Learn some science and quit being led by the nose like the damn leming that you are. Learn to think for yourself ass hole." (Continue to blow smoke at them until they leave or pass out.)

OR

"Show some brains. It is a private company and they should be allowed to allow smoking. If their clientel disagrees, then they will vote by spending their money elsewhere. If it is so popular, all of these non-smoking establishments will win out and the others will shut down. It is simple economics."

In other words, as my sainted Grandmother would say, "Sharpen up or get out of the conversation. Try to keep up. We aren't going that fast."
