Just a quick note for my friends on CW. My father Eulogio Jorge Ferrales passed away last night at the age of 80. He wasn’t active here in a long time but he always had fond memories of CW and his online friends, including Tommy, Steve (TOJE) and others. He will be sorely missed.
——

Eulogio Jorge Ferrales born September 13, 1939 in Cabaiguan, Cuba and died on April 8th, 2020 at the age of 80.

Eulogio, affectionately known as Leo, fled his beloved Cuba to the Canary Islands, Spain in 1967 eventually making his way to Houston, Texas and finally New Jersey. Having studied accounting at the Escuela de Comercio in Camagüey, Cuba, he owned an auto service center but later returned to his career as a bookkeeper/accountant at NY Produce, Inc.

During the Mariel boatlift of 1980, he took command of a small shrimp trawler, sailed to Cuba and was able to win the release of his mother, father, daughter and grandson. He was forever grateful to the United States and the generosity of its people.

Leo loved his Cuban food, music, a good cigar and a glass of wine. Always the storyteller and life of the party, he was usually found in the middle of a conversation discussing the finer points of politics and his youthful adventures in Cuba.

Leo was preceded in death by his father, Rafael, his mother, Argelia and his sister Maria del Carmen. He is survived by his devoted wife Ignacia, and his loving children Martha Lidia, Rafael (Karina), Steven, and step-daughter Marilyn. He will be terribly missed by his 8 grandchildren Yosbel, George, Diana, Nikolas, Kristian, Mikael, Katalina and step-grandson John and his 6 great-grandchildren Briana, Rachel, Jerzey, Solei, Henzo and Joshua.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Due to current restrictions, a private graveside burial service will be held on April 10, 2020.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to:

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
