Why I quit shopping at B&M tobacco shops
For one thing, there is none local. However, I did go to this place about 100 miles south of my town for about a year. Got to know the owner...somewhat. I could call, get a few singles shipped to me, no problem. Had a decent walk in humidor.
Anyway, it was mid-90s...and I was in there, and bought several sticks of something....(Feuntes...maybe?). I'd gotten all the way to check out, and the cashier looks at me, calls the owner over. The owner then proclaims that there is a LIMIT of 2 per customer (I had 4..I think) of this brand. Had I been told quietly, that would be one thing...but She was rather loud about it. Funny thing is, there were NO SIGNS anywhere..indicating this policy. Not in the humidor, not the store..nothing. I got a lot of "looks" as their were several customers in the store. To this day I've never set foot in that store. I do make an effort to treat employees/owners with courtesy and respect. In most cases, it is appreciated and I'm treated the same. Good places I've been; A small local owned shop in Atlanta (Gwinnett county), Uptown Smokes in Nashville. A Tinderbox in Mobile. Haven't been to these places in years, so things may have changed. And I almost forgot, JR's in Burlington, NC! VERY NICE, COURTEOUS PEOPLE...and lots and lots and lots of cigars! JRs is THE Place! Bad experiences: with a Tinderbox in Atlanta, Lenox Square mall. Unfriendly, and watched me in the humidor..like I was going to steal something. Ditto for the tobacco shop in Springfield, MO. So given my budget, logistics and my complete lack of patience for rude salespeople, owners..I just buy over the internet. When I travel, I just take 'em with me.
