My wife picked up a new coffee maker for me. Picture below.

The thing is essentially an aeropress of quite poor quality made to work with K cups.

I've used it a couple of times now. Of course, it works. Stick the cup in the bottom, add water, press it through, and you get coffee. It is not the skull crushingly strong stuff you get with real coffee, because of course, it's just a tablespoon of coffee instead of a quarter cup. I used the multi use cup that came with it, and it worked fairly well with ground coffee, but still needs to be filled far short of the full mark or you get brown hot water and a pellet.

The only benefit I see to it over an aeropress is that you pop in a cup, run the thing, and there is no cleanup afterward. Does that matter? not really, except that downstairs in my office, while I can heat up water, I don't have a sink here to clean a press or other coffee maker. I'm going to keep it down here with a box of cups, and see if it works better than the other options I have.

All things considered, there is no real reason to own one, other than the these reasons. Being willing to buy cups instead of ground, wanting no more than a few cups a day, being unwilling to buy an electronic brewer, and maybe just not having the facilities available to use a real coffee maker. I can see it being of use on primitive camping.
