Size: BIG ASS GRAN CORON
Wrapper: 1ST one from 1997 was a medium tan, 2nd one from 1998 was darker tan. Both had thin veins, very nice looking wrappers. Construction/Draw: Both were well rolled, nice firm feel, nice cap. Solid yet had perfect draw which surprised me since these tend to be on the tight side. Cigars held up well, no need to relight. Perfect draw is important since these tend to be on the light side of flavors to begin with, so you need a good draw for max flavor extract. Flavor/Strength: A real shocker! In the past, Sancho Sancho never impressed me do to its lack of flavor. But these were not your usual Sancho Sanchos. No sir! These actually rocked. At first the flavors were on sweet side, a bit mat and mild as you would expect. But the flavors intensified fast. Always on the sweet side, some spice, some cedar flavors, really nice and balanced, never bitter or harsh. Kind of one dimensional. Final Thoughts: The look and feel led me to believe these were going to be good. I was a bit worried since in the past these were usually mild, bland, and uneventful. But these were not the norm. Rich tasting smoked filled the palate, excellent flavors from beginning to end. The draw made it a complete joy to smoke. Also, these cigars were a bit on the dry side, so they did smoke fast. I power smoked these bad boys in 45 minutes EACH. No shit! I powered through them in 1.5 hours. Excellent experience for these pair of Gran Coronas. Rating: 91
