2004 Arturo Fuente Don Carlos No.2

A 6x55 torpedo with a toothy, Cameroon wrapper, smooth cap, and firm bunch.

Slightly uneven burn,* short, conical coal, light *grey ash of typical structure,* and a perfect draw with high smoke volume and faint but fragrant aroma.

Of ample richness and perfect balance of earthy, woody and herbal flavors. First third was of generous body, generous flavor,* and strength was a medium-full, second third was full, and final third was powerful and with a strong flavor.
*
No sweetness, bitterness, sharpness or saltiness and a light burn on the tongue.

Overall,* character was pedigreed and overall just great.

Final score was 96 out of 100

Another compliments of Bruce @Ljutic

I friggin' LOVE cigars

CFC 2000 or 2001 our welcome pack contained a 10+ year old Don Carlos #2. It was the first cigar I smoked pool-side while meeting dozens of fellow CF members in person for the first time. Great company, great environment, and that cigar just blew me away. While others chased Opus, I invested in Don Carlos. Ultimately the Belicosos, Double Robustos, Number 3s, and Number 2s became my favorites. Sounds like you have a new favorite as well. Glad you liked it.

Was already a big fan of the Don Carlos's, but after 18 years, i was amazed at the amount of flavor and the strength of this one. If it was this flavorful and strong after this long, I can only imagine that they rivaled the Opus x's when young.

Definitely was a great smoke as you can see from the score. I think this is the highest score in I've given anything I have reviewed to date
