Simply great cigars at an amazing price. How in the world did he not make it?

I am afraid it will take more than scratching!

Just because you make a great product doesn't mean you know how to run a great business. I have seen my share of great businesses fail due to the stupidity of their owners. I worked for one of those for a while

Yup.

I've seen where the business has been saved when the owner turns the running of the operation over to "business professionals" and brought it back from the brink. Appears something like that may have saved it in this case.

Maybe only another old Lunatic will be able to answer this, but I thought that the original LHB and 1996 Reservas had been made by an original owner that Gael subsequently took over from?

I apparently posted the other thread I was looking at (yes it was religious and not porn lol).
Let me see if I can find the thread I was referencing.

Well that makes a bit more sense.

Loved La Luna, still have some LHBs and others that are holding up nicely.

14 years old.

I think that the one thing that stands out in my mind about la luna was when one of the La Luna company spokesmen reamed me out when I said that I bought some from CI or CBID. "**** never sold la luna cigars!" There I was, the purchase was still listed on my account, etc, but he called me out publicly as a liar.

Those were some pretty serious mis-steps that they made. Sort of to be expected. He was an artist, Coke (collectibles) dealer, former british band member, etc, and he just fell willy nilly into a new enterprise, and both he and the owner of that new company were outsiders. When the company folded, he went down the toilet with it. Apparently the product was good, but he went into the roughest possible period of this market with no business expertise supporting him, and in the end, he let them take control of his products.

That comes back to the lawsuit he filed against JR. He made them and sold them, and when the owners of his product dumped them on the open market for pennies on the dollar, well, he's just out of damned luck, and he should have had the dignity to suffer the slings and arrows of his errors, rather than going after the purchaser of his products. Sure, he owns the name, but he gave away all rights to that name when he put it on the bands and sold the product.

I don't know why the guy never tried to make the brand work again, or do some work without re-opening that can of worms.
