humidity problem

for anyone thats in the northeast, they know the weather we've been having the last few weeks has been very humid, most days above 80%RH. i have a small desktop humidor (http://www.jrcigar.com/index.cfm?pag...H12KR&type=hum) and the humidity won't drop below 73%. i have the humidor in my basement because it has been so hot out lately (the temp has been about 70-75 in the basement which is ok) and have it literally inches away from a big dehumidifier that is set to very dry. i have to empy the water bucket at least once a day it is drawing so much moisture from the air.

i had a smoke the other night (a nat sherman maduro) and it started out ok, but it quickly became harsh and bitter tasting, and about half way through became very hard to keep lit. i had to relight it twice. seems the stick was too wet. is there anything i can throw in the humi that would draw some of the moisture out?

or does anybody have any 65% beads they are willing to part with? according to vipers calculations (http://forums.cigarweekly.com/viewtopic.php?t=98044) i would need a little under half an ounce.

any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
