Wild stuff on the eve of NHL free agency
Paul Kariya and Adam Oates not tendered offers by Anaheim. Guess $10 million is too much to keep your captain around.
Nashville trades their best defensive d-man in Skrastins to Colorado. Wow! What a defense the Avs can put on the ice now. Hasek is back with the Red Wings. What in the world are they going to do with CuJo? What happens to Federov? Dallas is not qualifying Hatcher, where does he end up? What else happens tonight? Where do all these premier free agents end up? This is almost as much fun as the trade deadline. All the GMs around the league have their panties in a collective wad over the CBA expiring after next season. I guess my Thrashers have been pretty forward looking by refusing to be held hostage by free agent demands(see Andrew Brunette, Donald Audette). Or is this a reaction to two teams with reasonable payrolls making the Stanley Cup finals? Are the small market teams going to be the big players in the free agent market? So many questions. This will be an interesting summer for an NHL fan. |
