I'm fond of both of them. OF and manhattans. My uncle used to drink manhattans. Crappy red vermouth ruins them.

Manhattans with Angostura bitters.

Great to see you, Bluto!

Yes, I am still an old fashioned kind of guy and I'll drink a bourbon OF or manhattan any day of the week. One of my uncles drank them on ice. Probably cheap stuff, although he could have afforded anything. Was a partner in haskens and sells accounting.

I'd trade my family of cats for a few hours with my family again, all of them together. I'd even wear my tie and coat again.

As long as I'm having a fantasy, I'd forbid any kind of politics. They were all over the place. Lawrence and Herb would have been Repubs, Jane, Ruth, Bob and Walter would have been dems. Jane would have been a Moderate dem, Larry would be a Bush/Reagan repub.

Grandpa was a Mason as well as Lawrence, the temple is named after grandpa. I was dragged to Joplin just as I began to understand them. That is a horrible loss, I would have been a very different person.

I'm very much a richer person for having known this group. That's almost as good.

Make it with dark rum instead of bourbon or rye.

I'll try that. I already will occasionally make a Manhattan with Brandy.

try a sip, you may want to adjust the bitters after a test taste. Orange bitters work great. You can also do bourbon/rum although I think that muddies flavors.
