So I think I convinced my wife's uncle to build me a cabinet

He's an excellent woodcrafter, but hasn't built a humidor before...I've given him lots of pictures and he thinks it will be (relatively) easy for him.

So a couple thoughts/questions...

Veneer obviously lowers the price quite a bit. Should I spend the extra for real wood or since this is his first put less $ into it? Also I'm thinking some variant of maple like tiger.

Glass top bezel - found a place online that sells custom glass - would be about $55 plus shipping.

Found a place for locks, knobs, etc. Going to do brushed nickel.

Local wood store has everything else except maybe the drawer slide.

Any other thoughts?
