JR Cigar Card "Humidification Device" ?

Got a ten-pack of these credit-card sized things in a JR special a while back, but haven't used them yet. Directions on the back say that after soaking it in distilled water for 30-60 seconds, wipe off excess water and place it in your humidor, plastic bag, etc., and that it should last "depending on the size and quality of the humidor, conditions of cigars" for 3 - 5 days."

That doesn't sound very useful to me. Anyone have some experience with these?
