This is my blind review #3 of 4 between dwhale and myself.
Cigar #3 for me was another Torp. The wrapper was a really nice looking maduro with little or no veining or blemishes. I’m guessing maybe Brazilian. Construction seemed to be good except for the taper. It was off centered and gave the cigar a lopsided look to it. Aside from that by all appearances it was a cigar that would make you think you were getting a real treat. The pre-light aroma was nice, cedary and had lots of that straightforward tobacco smell that I love. After lighting I found out I was right about what I was in for. I thought by looks alone that this was going to be a full flavored and rich tasting cigar. Strength wise I’d call it medium but it packed lots of flavor and was plenty complex. I’m not much for going into hints of this and that, but it did have an overall sweet profile with cocoa and coffee being the dominant tastes. The burn was dead on throughout and the ash was flaky, not solid at all. It was consistent down to about two thirds gone and then turned bitter. Not harsh just kind of medicinal. I slowed down on it and tried to let it cool, that helped some but I couldn’t call it a nubber. Overall this was a really good cigar, certainly one that I’d smoke plenty of. I’m giving it a 4 out 5. Only because I couldn’t burn my fingers on it. |
