Ronan (the wine, that is...)
Ronan de Clinet 2015 (Ronan by Clinet in English speaking markets)
This red Bordeaux is marketed by the owners of Château Clinet in Pomerol. It's produced 100% from Merlot grapes harvested in Bordeaux. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of Merlot-based wines. However, this one has me thinking twice about that particular bias. At 14%ABV, the 2015 Ronan de Clinet displays an approachable demeanour. The fruit is ripe, though the wine finishes on a much drier note, while the tannins come across in a relatively smooth fashion. This wine is drinking nicely at the moment, and pairs well with roasts or grilled meats. Well worth searching for (at less than CDN$20 a bottle).
