cedar questions... storage, care etc

Im about to get the cedar out of a walk in humidor that has been in service at a local B&M for about 20 years. I am not ready to build anything (probably for about a year) is there any way I should store it, or care for it, or anything? I figure before I use it I should do a light sanding....

Im not sure if Ill convert a small closet, or line something like an old oak refrigerator yet.
