Salt Test Hygrometers
It is important to salt test your manual and digital hygrometers to insure your cigars are in proper humidity levels in your humidor.
I recently started using a new humidor and loaded it with cigars. The digital hygrometer that came with the humidor read 64%. But the feel of the cigars felt like they were over humidified. So I did a salt test. After 24 hours in a ziplock bag, the humidity level should have read 75%. It read 63%. So the cigars in the humidor was was actually in a 76% humidity environment. A bit too high for cigars. Salt test your hygrometers and don't risk ruining your cigars because of an inaccurate hygrometer.
