Ok I give up how do you F'ing cook rice

Ok

I can cook most anything, however, rice eludes me...

I have tried every method out there , but , I am the king at cooking sticky rice , I dont want sticky rice (most of the time) .... I rinse it , do 2 to 1 , 1.5 to one , use different types , no matter what I do , it's not what I want , and yes I have used Uncle Ben's, that is the result I am looking for , but , i dont want a boil in bag solution....

Suggestions?

Dan

No Asian rice like calrose, jazmine, or sushi (I think it’s called yashiki rice)? Basmatti?

Just plain long grain rice?

The rule is 1.5 cups of water or stock to every cup of rice. Measure your rice and water into a pan on a burner set to high. Let it come to a boil. Stir rice, turn the burner to low and cover the pot. 10 minutes and it's done.

I only use jasmine rice.

If it’s your store brand plain white long grain rice, in a sauce pan with a good fitting lid, add 1 cup rice, 1.5 cups water and half teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low simmer. After 18 to 20 minutes check to see all water is absorbed. Then take off heat and let sit covered 20 minutes.

Get what every Asian family has in their kitchen....a rice cooker. Set and forget, comes out perfect every time. Even the little $20 1c version I just got because it just two of us now, makes perfect rice every time.

Here are 2 that I like, and it won’t break the bank.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ZMD5I2..._dp_it_im&th=1

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0156PTDZ6...v_lig_dp_it_im

They are similar to a Panasonic one I used for like 20 years. Similar lid to body style, and only one control lever for cook and keep warm setting.

I opted for a different one , 4 cup'er , as you said, $20 , so not a huge investment, plus if the rice isnt right , I can blame the cooker , not me , so it's a win win ...
