Aurora 100 Anos Robusto

For starters, I know nothing about this cigar. I do not know how I got it, or how long I've had it. I found it, still wrapped in cello, in one of my main storage coolers.

A good looking cigar. The wrapper was medium brown with a couple prominent veins. It had two bands, a large Aurora 100 Anos band, and a sub-band that had a number on it. The pre-light smell was an earthy barnyard aroma (usually a good sign). The pre-light draw was open and had a grassy straw-like flavor to it.

The cigar lit easily and burned straight producing large volumes of smoke. It started out mild-medium in strength with a flavor much like pre-light: A grassy, straw-like and toasty tobacco flavor. I find this profile in Dominican cigars and it is not necessarily to my liking, but I forged on.

The flavor profile stayed pretty much the same the entire length. However, a musty component started to show up about 1/3 of the way in that was off-putting. At the half-way point I got a couple hints of spiciness but it didn't last. By the last third the musty (damp-moldy like) really became pronounced and that was enough of that, and i pitched it.

I don't think the damp, musty flavor was a storage issue as I smoke many cigars out of that particular cooler which do not exhibit that characteristic.

Overall, I found this to be a pretty ho-hum cigar. Construction was great, it looked great, but the flavor profile was just not something I cared for.
