Briar pipes vs. Meerschaum pipes
I used to smoke a lot of meerschaum pipes that I purchased back in the 1980's and 1990's. I always thought they smoked cooler than the briars, and watching them brown up was cool. Lately, they just don't seem to smoke the same as they used to. Don't know why, it must just be my tastes. It seems to me that briar pipes smoke better with non-aromatic blends with latakia, perique, etc. and the meerschaum pipes smoke better with flavored blends such as cherry, vanilla, rum, etc. Anybody have any thoughts about this?
