Damn, this DVD stuff is awesome Arrived Friday, hook up took almost 10 minutes .

Since it worked fine with a music CD, went to the Blockbuster, with a Christmas gift card, and rented:

1) Enemy at the Gates
2) Glory
3) Saving Ryan's Privates
4) Gone with the Wind
5) Das Boot

Made sure they were all Dolby Digital 5.1, and Letterbox.

Popped in Enemy...All manner of lights, previously unseen, lit up on my receiver to tell me this was Dolby Digital 5.1, with 6.1 Channel Decoding. Wonderful sound and picture.

DVD sure beats the hell out of VHS! I watched DVD #4 (of 14) from the Monty Python Boxed Set. Wink wink nudge nudge say no more

The last ones I watched were:

Jurassic Park III - great sound and visual. Dumb plot but a good movie, on par with the original. Great on DVD

The 6th Day - Typical Arnie flick with some nice special effects.

Blade Runner - This is an older movie redone on DVD. I was dissappointed. Sound didn't measure up and the movie really did nothing for me.

I also just placed an order for Tombstone, the directors cut. It will come out tomorrow. They added about 14, or 4 minutes of extra stuff (I can't remember, damn senility again). I just love westerns.

Hey Jefslat, I relly like Apocalypse Now (bought it). Is Redux, worth buying, or should I just rent it once?

I watched Crouching Tigger Hidden dragon this weekend. I bought this via Hong Kong before it was released here in U.S. so it had been a while. For some reason I want to see Fast and the Furious next. Anyone see it?

This weekend I watched "Evolution" and the IMAX release of "Everest".

I'm hoping they release some skiing and windsurfing videos on DVD soon.

Nevermind, those are anti-theft devices, having nothing to do with the DVD itself.
