Cigar Weekly Herfs

This past weekend, we had our annual Gulf Coast Reunion Herf at Stogie5150's home.
If you look in the Herfs Up Forum, you'll see a couple events scheduled, including a "CW20" Cigar Weekly 20th Anniversary local herf in Mansfield, Ohio.

I know a lot of our members post elsewhere on social media, yada, yada, yada.

We had some great times. We didn't stop enjoying herfs, did we? We didn't stop enjoying each others company did we? We NEED these events, and I am not referring only to our own Gulf Coast Herf in the Bayou.

This is my "hot take" on herfs after this weekend's event.
And yes, I work every weekend, I have no room to talk, but SOMEONE has to say it.

Jon (spiridon) and I were talking all weekend. Everyone says they want to come, they wish they could come...life gets in the way...."damn, that looks fun....that food looks great...."

LAST YEAR this event got TOO big, with a goodly number of folks from a shop in Daphne, Alabama, coming over. They didn't know us, they kept on one side of the event, and didn't mingle with us, the hosts and CWers.

We, Jon and I especially, WANT our old friends and CWers here, with us.

EVERYONE knows the weekend, always on the weekend of Divine Mercy Sunday or the "Octave of Easter" that is to say the weekend following Easter Sunday. It's been on this weekend so that tax season is usually over

Y'all KNOW when it is.
Stop "wishing" and make it happen.
You have a year to plan.
Get your keisters down here.

Do we have to print "save-the-date" cards?
Y'all need a full, professionally engraved invitation?

Several years ago, I sent you a oyster grilling plate from Raichlen. How did it work and hold up?

My problem is that K works weekends and only gets one off per quarter. I'd be attending more herfs were that not the case. Otherwise, my best bet is to host them instead. My oldest daughter is turning 16 next year, so she'll be able to babysit her sister. That may allow me to attend next year.

I'm not remembering that, and neither does K.
Strange. I would certainly have used the hell out of it, if I had. We got into it last year, half-jokingly, because I would cook the oysters in a Lodge cornbread pan.

Jon wanted and the "clients" demanded chargrilled oysters in the shells, instead. I like the flavor that builds up in the pan as you do multiple batches. However, one doesn't have to clean shells at the end of the night

The rack holds the shells and keeps them from rolling around on the grate. I'll send you another if I can still find one.

Edit: I found one. Apparently they have been discontinued. Got the last one and you should have it this weekend.
