And from the latest issue of Maclean's Magazine (Vol.119 No.30 July 31st, 2006 page 62)...
"Thierry Guillon, a young distiller in France, is producing Single Malt de le Montagne de Reims whisky right in the middle of Champagne country... Guillon produces 60,000 bottles a year, keeping his whisky rare enough to be expensive." Given his nation's penchant for Scotch whisky, Guillon is obviously tapping into something of a potential liquid gold mine. Since 1999, he has seen production increase six-fold, despite the fact that the second distillation is carried out in a tiny 200-liter-capacity pot-still. Guillon markets three versions of his whisky, ranging from a 40%ABV lightly peated one to a 46%ABV much more heavily peated edition. No oak chips in this one, by the way.
