humidification in Dry climates??

I am thinking about investing in a large furniture piece humi but have had a tough time with my current 600ct box with keeping the humidity over 60%. A buddy says he has had the same problem with his custom made humi and that it is just really tough in Colorado to keep it around 68-70%

Any thoughts? Certainly there are members from CO or NV or some other place where the climate is super dry. I don't want to invest $1000 on a humi if it won't keep my sticks.

Thanks in advance
