Mayorga Maduro
I smoked the Mayorga maduro, I think either torro or long corona size that mealstrom sent to me from Cumberland Cigar Co. (Thanks Rich aad Ed!)
It had a very dark brown oily wrapper, to me it looked like it had shoe polish on it and had started to be shined. Before lighting it gave off a strong earthy scent, prelight draw hinted again at earthyness will a little bit of spice. Right off the bat after lighting I got a strong maduro flavor, rich, slightly bitter coffee. This flavor remained for the rest of the smoke, mellowing slightly abot halfway through - only very briefly did I ever get spices. This was a good cigar, Ive been on a maduro kick lately and I think I might be getting burnt out. Meal also sent me the natural version of the same cigar and Im thinking about having that one tonight, it will be interesting to see how the two cigars differ. Final thing, I was drinking some Wild Turkey on the rocks while smoking and I did not think that this was a good combo at all. Ive never had straight up alchohol with a cigar before, and I did not feel like brewing a pot of coffee at the time - I now think that coffee would go much better with this cigar (maduro) and whisky would probably go better with a stronger cigar(pepper). |
