Old Forester Signature 100 Proof
Big dense caramel heavy woody bourbon. Lovely dark brown. Some orange zest. Long broad finish.
I have to get a bottle of this. And whoever thought of having a bourbon tasting room at SDF is/was a genius

Sounds tempting. What's more, it's actually readily available in my neck of the woods. I've often thought of nabbing a bottle, though I'd prefer going for the OF Birthday Bourbon, Unfortunately, the latter isn't to be found locally.

Can't get into bourbon. Too sweet for me.

I'm with Phil. Bourbon seems to have a brown sugar note as well as a burn that good Scotch and Irish whiskeys don't have

Bourbon is distinctly different from scotch
I do like both, I started with bourbon and have learned to appreciate scotch Neither is going to be liked by everyone

Quote:
The opinion was expressed (by a devout proponent of the merits of Scotch whisky) that Bourbon cannot (generally) compete with Scotch when it comes down to degree of complexity, and that its corn-heavy constitution inherently limits the drink's range of sweetness to dryness - unlike Scotch, which can vary from very sweet to extremely dry. I think this view doesn't take into account the fact that Scotch and Bourbon are entirely different 'beasts', and that the differences between the two necessitate looking at each spirit through separate 'viewfinders'. I happen to enjoy both, and would feel unduly limited if denied the opportunity to drink one or the other.

To me the closest scotch/bourbon comparison is coffee/tea
