I'm looking for a lighter & need suggestions.
Hey guys, i'm not too sure if this would be the best place to post this, but i'm looking for a butane lighter. I'm not 100% sure if I should go with Zippo or not. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for a durable lighter that doesnt need very much maintenance. Also, I'm not looking to spend a fortune for a REALLY nice one, but a half decent $10-15(tops) would be pretty cool. In case Eagle Eyes Eric (Eric) is reading this topic..i'm not looking for anyone to give me theirs, I'm just looking for some info so i make a smart buy!) Thanks!!
PS: one would think on a campus with about 60% of the population beign smokers, u'd be able to find a box of matches once in awhile. God almighty! Thanks All. -AJ |

i can definately reccomend the Xikar Lighter. Its a little more than u were looking to spend (25 bucks) but well worth it IMO. Also, Xikar is an awesome company, and if pretty much anything goes wrong with it, they'll make good on it. There are people on here who have done everything from washing them to droping them on cement, and in the off chance it breaks, the company has been really great about replacements. I've been there with the cheapo butane lighters, and i'll never go back now that i have this.

A Zippo is fine. The fuel won't foul your cigars.
Light the Zip, let it burn a few seconds, light your cigar. FWIW, I use a Bic about 90% of the time.

Avoid anything with the name "Colibri" on it. Run if you can, hide if you must, but don't go near a Colibri.

Find a NIBO lighter either at your local shop or online. Great value and a good torch lighter.

Z-Plus insert in the Zippo of your choice, rotate among your collection, if you have one.
Seriously, my Z-plus insert works great in all conditions... kwhubbard
