Humidity Levels

I've heard that Europeans like to keep thier cigars a little less humidified than what is recommend in most articles I've read..
I've always tried to keep it close to 70% but, as a new friend I've made here has recommended, would less than this be a matter of taste or are there other reasons?
I smoked a nice cigar out of my 70% humi last thursday and the burn was stupendous.
The courtesy of your experience is much appreciated..
