the retaliation tariffs against bourbon are hurting the industry... tariffs don't work the way some people think they do...

Before the 16th Amendment, tariffs were the chief revenue source of the federal government.

Comparing tariffs pre 1916 to tariffs today isn't fair. Today's economic focus is more complicated. In today's world, using historical tariffs amounts to a global pissing match. Nobody wins a pissing contest.

nope they don't.

I read there are millions of pounds of pork bellies in storage because China isn't buying them... cheap bacon now, expensive bacon soon...

Smithfield was on sale last weekend for $3 a package. Normal bacon prices haven't budged. I stocked up on a 99 cent sale.

may buy them elsewhere... as they are doing now. We are no longer the only producer in the world, and laying politics with exports only makes us a suspect supplier

And China has helped Brazil amongst others increase production in commodities they import.
