Coffee Rub

Have any of you ever used coffee in your cooking rubs? I have. In the past used coffee in a rub when rotissering a racf of pork. It adds a smokey(IMO) flavor.

The flavor you get will invariably differ depending on the type of coffee and the degree of roast.

I've used a bit of very dark roast coffee, and it added a chocolate note, which was really great with the ancho chili in the dry rub.

But typically I use my standard rub - it's just awesome without coffee!

I have, but with mixed results. Used black coffee in BBQ sauce too.

I use it often on beef along with ancho and guajillo pepper which I make from the dried peppers. Usually add salt and a little raw sugar to the rub. I like to grind fine as if for espresso
