New Humidor rapid change...

Hi gang, I bought a new humidor (my first) last week. I have had a cup of distilled water in it awaiting my beads from Viper. I calibrated my hygrometer and was comfortable with its accuracy in the salt test. For the last few days it has been at about 54 - 56 %. It was still at 56% last night. Today I opened it up and it is now at 65%.

Does this sound normal? Perhaps the change isn't all that rapid afterall; or my hygrometer sucks. I can't wait to put my smokes in there.
