Interesting bit of info…I played in the Gold Coast Soccer League (semi-pro league) in south Florida in the 80s. There were some great professionals that played with us, Cubillas, Neeskens, van Beveren and more…and also a certain Gerd ‘Der Bomber’ Muller who at the time also played for the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers. Yes, he turned out for a local pub (dammit can't remember the name but it was a British pub) and we played one game against him during the course of the 1982 season (he scored a hat trick). Although he was short and very thick legged, I watched him with his back to the goal looking at a pass arriving near his feet. He was barely inside the penalty area. Without settling the ball, he just spun like a ballerina and one-timed it into the roof of the net. He was the greatest goalscorer I’ve EVER seen – and probably will ever see.
