Outlaw Cigar Gunslinger Black Powder

This 7 x 70 monster has a very dark Maduro wrapper, just shy of oscuro. The otherwise smooth oily wrapper has a couple of flaws probably due to its not being wrapped in cellophane. The lightly box pressed cigar has a deep cocoa aroma from the foot. The cold draw is good. Tonight’s beverage is a Samuel Smith’s Chocolate Stout.

Peppery cocoa notes are present from the start, with a lighter pepper note in the retrohale. The burn is almost cutting the cigar down the middle. Coffee notes joining the rest as the burn begins to even out.

Tapped the ash at about 1/3 and immediately saw why the burn is uneven; the ligero is not centered very well. However, the flavors are blending nicely. A little cedar emerges to join the cocoa, coffee and pepper.

When Scott from Redland Cigar gave it to me he said he knew that I preferred smaller rings but wanted my opinion. Apparently it sells very well.

During the second third the burn continued to self correct. The pepper notes have picked up, especially in the retrohale. As I expected, the smoke is plentiful, and also quite smooth with some sweetness emerging.

Approaching the final inch the burn has corrected itself to almost perfect. Quite the adventure watching it do so. I imagine that working with enough filler to roll a 70 ring cigar might present such a challenge. The complexity is excellent and it was a very pleasant full bodied smoke. 8.5/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
